Eastern Michigan University has just completed a five year study on the effectiveness of Tattum FAST Reading at Grosse Pointe Public Schools consisting of over 1300 FAST students and the results were astounding.
-29% of non-FAST students (students without reading problems) increased one or more efficiency levels on the NWEA between 3rd and 5th grade, whereas 38% of FAST students experienced the same gains.
-Minus the salaries for the 10 reading specialists, the cost to the Grosse Pointe foundation has been just $176/student, which has most likely changed these students' future careers and opportunities

Inner City Effectiveness
Thirkell elementary school in Detroit, Michigan has been named the number one school in the state for reading. They have an intervention program, Beyond Basics, tutoring their problem readers. Beyond Basics tutors are trained in Tattum FAST Reading by its founder Steve Tattum.
The Grosse Pointe Study
Grosse Pointe Public School System has adopted Tattum F.A.S.T. as their intervention program. The schools designate students who need reading remediation each fall.
In 2009, 365 students were serviced with Tattum F.A.S.T. Reading. In the Fall of 2010, 143 students (40%) tested out of the program and no longer needed services.
In the year 2010, 367 students qualified for the program. In the Fall of 2011, 185 students (50%) tested out of the program.

The Wyatt Edison Study
In the fall of 2004 through spring of 2005, Wyatt Edison adopted Tattum F.A.S.T. in grades 3rd to 8th. The average growth on the Woodcock Johnson Word Attack Subtest for all five grades was 5.5 grade levels.
